What I have learned through the years of being in the sports industry, that strength training is important for longevity, performance, and staying lean. Like many outdoor athletes, I want my strength training to be short and sweet because I would rather be on the trail.
I had so fun with 12 days of Core Xmas after so many friends said they didn’t know what to do and didn’t have a gym. Here’s the thing… everyone has different abilities - strength, balance, injuries. So even though I may outline a plank, for one person this can be uber easy and someone else may need modifications. The 12 days of Core Xmas are basic but effective. I am have a lot of respect and compassion for the body and awareness is crucial. Don’t underestimate these movements.
While you can do a lot with nothing, it is also fun to have a few toys on hand to add some fun and challenge to your exercises. I don’t think you need to join a gym to start strength training. Think simple.
