ABOUT THE RECON SERIES: Join me for the Filthy 50 Recon Ride, part of our 4-part series designed to prepare you for the main event. Each ride will increase in length and tackle different course sections. Our goal is to boost your confidence, refine your pacing strategy, and familiarize you with every aspect of the course. With my guidance as your cycling coach, you'll also fine-tune your nutrition strategy along the way. Best of all, these recon rides are completely free and complement our 12-week training program perfectly.
Get ready for the final recon ride of the F50 Recon Series on Sunday, October 13th, starting at 8 AM. We'll meet at Sikes Adobe located at 12655 Sunset Dr, Escondido, CA 92025, off the 78 and Via Rancho Parkway.
🍩 The Official Donut Ride: Arrive early—7:15 AM—to fuel up with donuts and coffee before the ride!
📍 Route Details: 32-mile lollipop loop, 2,300' of elevation. VIEW ROUTE
For those wanting extra mileage, add on a challenge by doubling back and hitting Raptor before returning to the parking lot. Route with Raptor Bonus is 43 miles with 2900’ but will give you a good idea of what is needed to climb Raptor Ridge after riding 30+ miles.
☀️ Weather Update:
The forecast looks promising with 60s at the start, warming up to the low-to-mid 80s. It won’t be as hot as recent weeks, but hydration is still key!
- Bring two water bottles
- Consider a hydration pack
- Add electrolytes to your water for performance and health.
** There will be NO water stashed on course. Paradise Produce Market on Del Dios (located near mile 10/22) opens at 10am and they sell water and other cold drinks, as well as fruit. Plan accordingly **
We'll keep an eye on the weather for updates as the day approaches.
🚴♂️ Key Focus:
This is a self-supported ride—not a race. It’s about refining your gear, nutrition, and skills. Use the course to break down challenges into manageable sections and make the most of your preparation.
🙌 Shout-out to our Partners:
